GRUR Annual Conference

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been intensively dealing with the question whether the GRUR Annual Meeting could be hold in Dresden in September of this year. After intensive discussion and consideration of all relevant facts, the GRUR Executive Committee has come to the following decision:

• The GRUR Annual Meeting 2020 is cancelled as a face-to-face event; it is also not planned as an online conference,
• the Meeting of the GRUR General Assembly will be held online this year,
• the cancelled annual conference should be re-scheduled as soon as possible and organised by the GRUR Regional Group Central-East in 2022 or 203, preferably in Dresden.
• The GRUR Annual Meeting 2021 will be held in September 2021 as planned in Bonn.

The decision was not an easy one for the Executive Committee, especially since the Regional Group Central-East, headed by its Chairman Prof. Dr Wündisch, as well as the GRUR Expert Committees had already made considerable efforts and had largely completed the planning, despite the existing uncertainties due to the pandemic.
However, at present we must assume that in autumn, considerable precautions and travel restrictions may still be in place or re-enacted. The anticipated restrictions will hardly allow, for example, our popular welcome evening and other parts of our social programme to be held in the usual format. In addition, upholding event would have represented an incalculable risk of financial loss for the association since many potential participants may take a very cautious approach regarding registration.
Since our Annual Meeting is particularly characterised by personal exchange and discussions on the fringes of the specialist events, we considered that it could not adequately be held online.
We will inform you about the time and the exact format of the meeting of the General Assemblies with as much advance notice as possible. We will also let you know if we can offer you other digital contents.
