GRUR - 2017-12-08

We are pleased to present to you the TechLaw Special issue of the GRUR Newsletter, in which we are focusing on key issues around digitisation, connectivity, data and IP law.

Brigitte Zypries, Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, opens our Newsletter with a welcome address, emphazising the importance of an in-depth interdisciplinary debate on the chances and challenges arising of progressing technology in a digitised world. Thereafter, our guest authors from EU politics, academia, industry and private practice analyse and discuss the following topics:

  • Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Robotics: How are these technologies developing, and what questions arise for the law, in particular intellectual property law, competition law and data protection law?
  • Additive Manufacturing: What are the legal challenges of 3D Printing?
  • Legal Tech: Why the hype about Blockchain and Smart Contracts?
In addition, we talk with innovative "Legal  Engineers" about the new format of Legal Hackathons and inform you about the results of the activities of the Tagung Junge Wissenschaft (Young Science Colloquium).

As regards international law, you will gain insight into the negotiations on the Hague Judgment Convention and an overview of the activities of the International League of Competition Law (LIDC). As usual, we will also share current developments within GRUR with you and give a preview of forth-coming events in the field of IP.

Enjoy the read!
