GRUR - 2020-01-31

The new GRUR Newsletter has arrived!

The current edition opens with a welcome address by Prof. Dr Josef Drexl and
Prof. Dr Reto M. Hilty on the first issue of the English-language journal GRUR International: Journal of European and International IP Law.

In our "Green Tech & IP" focus, we present five contributions on the question of what role intellectual property and competition law - as well as the various players in this field - play, or could play in the future, in coping with the consequences of climate change and promoting sustainable technologies and innovations:

  • Dr Constantin Eikel: (Un)fair advertising with environmental aspects [in German]
  • Prof. Dr Christian Heinze: Patent law and climate change - an outline [in German]
  • Interview with representatives of the WIPO Global Challenges Division on the WIPO GREEN Strategy [in English]
  • Stefan Papastefanou: Smart-Grid and Machine Learning as the IP-based future of sustainable and efficient energy supply [in German]
  • Interview with Natalie Raffoul, Chair of the AIPPI Standing Committee on IP and Green Technology [in English]

In addition, we talk with Prof. Dr. Jochen Bühling and Dr. Jan Dombrowski about current activities and projects of the German National Group of AIPPI.

The Newsletter concludes with two reports: Jan Horstmann and Joris Wendorf inform about the results of the workshop "Intellectual Property Protection for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics" (15 April 2019 at the DPMA Forum in Munich), while Dr Sven Hetmank and Constantin Rechenberg give a review of the conference GRUR Young Science 2019 "Communication, Creation and Innovation - Law in Transition" (21/22 June 2019 in Leipzig).

We hope you enjoy the read!
