The Regional Group Middle-East of the German Association for the Protection
of Intellectual Property (GRUR) cordially invites you to the GRUR Annual
Meeting from 5 to 7 October 2022 in Dresden.

The conference will start with a keynote speech by João Negrão, President of the
Boards of Appeal, EUIPO, Alicante. In the special committee sessions, current
legal issues from academia and private practice will be analysed and discussed
with you:
- Anti-Suit Injunctions
- EU Data Act
- Market power of digital platforms and protection of innovation-driven competition
- Enforcement and remuneration in practice following implementation of the DSM Directive
- Transparency under unfair competition law and liability in the platform economy
In addition to the committee sessions, you can participate in expert workshops on the following topics:
- GRUR Special: Plant varieties - does the current system of protection for plant varieties have to be reformed?
- EUIPO Special: Current jurisprudence of the Boards of Appeal of the EUIPO
- BGH Special Civil Senate X: Focal issues in the jurisprudence of Civil Senate X on patent law
- BGH Special Civil Senate I: Focal issues in the jurisprudence of Civil Senate I on trade mark and competition law
- AIPPI Special: Protection of trade secrets in patent infringement proceedings before national courts and the Unified Patent Court
The Special lecture at the Annual Meeting will be dedicated to the topic „“Have
The Lambs Stopped Screaming?” Jonathan Demme’s psychological thriller “The
Silence of the Lambs” dating from 1991 is one of the most spine-chilling works
in film history. The lecture analyses the aesthetic film resources used in this
masterpiece, reveals its connection to surrealistic works of art and deciphers
the subtexts written into the film by way of concealed citations.
The IP-Community of the Regional Group Middle-East invites you to the small palace
courtyard of the Residential Palace Dresden.
